About Elizabeth

My name is Elizabeth Hocker, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (License Number #2014037901) in the State of Missouri. I hold a Masters of Education in Counseling from Stephens College and a Bachelors of Art in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Missouri. I also earned a Multicultural Certificate at the University of Missouri.

Before opening my practice, I was a Provisionally Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Michael DiBenedetto LPC (License Number #000222). Working with Michael provided me invaluable experience and insight. During that time I was a Substance Abuse Counselor. I worked with adult male offenders mandated to attend treatment. It was there I had the unique opportunity to work with and develop a collaborative therapeutic relationship with individuals from all walks of life struggling to address a significant number of issues. It was also there I truly understood each one of us has our own story to tell. I quickly discovered the way you perceive and tell your story has a tremendous impact on you.

While working towards earning my Master’s Degree, I interned at Stephens College and Coyote Hill Christian Children’s Home. During that time I had the opportunity to work with both college students and children in the foster care system that had been abused and neglected. In addition to my position as a counselor, I was honored to work with multiple nursing and rehabilitation facilities for older adults. I specialized in working with those individuals diagnosed with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. I collaborated closely with a diverse treatment team alongside their loved ones.

I have a deep passion for working collaboratively with others. It is an indescribable feeling one has to be allowed the privilege to be a witness to someone else’s story and their journey of healing. Ultimately my approach is simple—I endeavor to remain genuine, empathetic, compassionate, honest, fully present and when necessary straightforward. I will strive to meet you where you are while challenging you to move towards where you wish to be. I believe that the answers you seek lay within yourself. Only you know what is right for you. No one can make these decisions for you. As you work to discover these answers, I will provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings as you seek to create healthy changes and grow as a person.
