For years the buzz word has been self-care. Yet, many of us picture bubble baths, massages, and creamy chocolate bonbons. Well, those are definately some of my favorites. However, it's much much more.
Self-Care is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health
We kinda suck as a society as taking care of ourselves. Those of us who are helping professionals (doctors, nurses, yoga instructors, physical trainers, massage therapists, and yes, even therapists) are often the worst offenders. We tend to take care of EVERYONE around us, but we aren't always good a prioritizing ourselves.
It seems selfish. It's a luxury we don't afford. We recognize the value. We even "perscribe" it to our patients, clients, colleagues, friends, and family. Yet, we still don't treat ourselves like we
As a therapist, I help you prioritize your self-care. Building those intentional healthy activities into your daily routine is critical. The best way to manage stress, anxiety, and depression, and burnout is to prevent it from occurring in the first place. Once we get your current symptoms under control, we will work together to create realistic concrete activities to add to your routine.
